Coming home from work tonight, raining (poor visability) on I-35.
Going about 60, all of a sudden I see this clump of fur in front of me. Too late to swirve or slow down and then the BIG CLUNK occurs. Drive the remaining 10 miles to get home. Pull into garage, exit Altima and I'm overpowered by the smell of something burning. I'm very familiar with the burning smells normally associated with cars, this was different.
I go into house, grab flashlight, look under car. Looks like
TX CHAINSAW MASSACRE under the Alty!
Blood, tendons, meat strewn from the exhaust manifold all the way back to the "Y" on my cat-back.
I'll need to put the Alty on a lift to check for mechanical damage
as the car's too low to inspect on the ground. I shutter to think
what I'll find! No damage to ground effects (whew!)
I suspect it was a racoon or maybe a medium sized dog.
