So you probably know I was having problems with my Alty. I brought it to the service center yesterday. They upgraded my CPU to get rid of the check engine light. Then told me that burning 1 quart of oil every thousand miles is normal. I am burning three quarts of oil between every oil change.
So I called Nissan directly and the Regional Service Rep called me today and also said that this is normal. I bitched at both of them and said they where crazy.
I don't know what to do from here, except get rid of the car.

Hal, splurge ( no, not that kind of splurge) and get an A4. Fit and finish is wondeful, the 1.8T or 2.0FSi motors are imaculate and the looks and feel is out of this world.
I can imagine you as an overweight computer nerd with bleach blond hair and horn rimmed glasses who listens to emo rock and feels entitled because you think no one else has discovered it.

Man, that seriously sucks. I thought those 3.5's were supposed to hold up real well. Yeah, burning 3 quarts is never normal. I'm curious, are you out of warantee?
my car does'nt even go through a 1/2 to a full quart between oil changes, and its a 95 with 130,000 miles! dude im really sorry hal, and that shit about it being normal is total bull shit. i knew renault was going to cheapen nissan. but hey nissan is running in the black now thats all that matters!

My 3.5 doesn't burn a drop of oil between changes.. hard to believe they said that
and what does "upgraded my cpu to get rid of check engine light" mean?
What code was it throwing?

P0420, I beleive the CPU upgrade opens up the paramiters between the first and second bank so that the CES light doesn't get triggered as easily.
They didn't speicify, they just said they did a CPU upgrade.
I said to the Regional National Rep from Nissan, "Do you mean to tell me that if everytime you did an oil change and 1 quart of oil came out of your car you wouldn't be alarmed?" She said no. Then I asked for it in writing that it is normal and she said they legally don't have to.
It was a tense conversation, I was calling her ever move, but she was unwaivering in her statement that Nissan says that it is normal for this engine to burn 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. I told her either you are blatantly lying to me or you are misinformed.

Anytime you want to find out you can take the hour trip to come meet me here on LI.
Take the Outerbridge Crossing to the Staten Island Expressway. Take that to the Verizano and onto the Belt Pkwy East. Take the Belt to Exit 23 or 24 I forget, but it is Southern State ParkwayEast, to Exit 39, Deer Park Ave North. Take that to Grand Blvd. Let me know when you get there I'll meet you on the corner and you can find out who is insulting you over what ever the hell he feels like.

but anyways, I would have another professional shop take a look at the car because the dealership doesnt want your car fixed, they want you to be coming back in to get raped for unnessesary repairs that could be a simple fix..

Obviously the CEL was getting triggered for a reason.. if they disabled it that's of course not fixing the problem.. How miles do you have on it? thinking of warranty..
