So it use the metal pads but wouldn't the metal pads be worn out over the years and have to be replaced?
they do not wear per se. Springs are more likely to fatigue over time. Honestly man if you think yoru going to find a part in the tranny that doesn't need to be replaced "over the years", if you think that's not normal your living in a dream world.

Well I was thinking more on the line as metal pads like brake pads but they both do different things so I wasn't thinking clearly...

Well you can totally go for it, because they were only on my car for a few days. They are already taken off and will not re-appear on a permanent basis.

18 LBS. I believe we lightened the stock flywheel to about 11 lbs.
Whoa... that thing is heavy compared to the JWT 8lbs...
