ok ive done it.. NPM, hope your happy

i have just emailed a letter to as many people and editors for Primedia Publishing.. Sport Compact Car Magazine for one..

i really wish i could read NissanPerformanceMag.com in the newstands..and for a while now ive wanted to email Primedia for this reason.. well.. here is the letter i sent to them.. hopefully no one is mad at me.. but i really wish i could read NissanPerformanceMag.com at work.. on my lunch breaks.. but not allowed to screw with computers at work lol....... heres the letter gang....

Hello, My Name is Travis and throughout the years ive been trying to get a hold of maybe a producer or someone whom is in charge of the ideas and magazines that are published each month.. Primedia being one of the main ones to contact.. basically.. i am 23 years of age.. and i just wanted to point out an idea i had that could bring you in profits.. and also.. benifit me by having a magazine of interest to me and others, MANY ,MANY others like myself whom would buy this magazine.. if someone has time check out NissanPerformanceMag.com.... this magazine is always awsome.. most of them there dont even know im doin this(Editors of NPM).. i really dont know why i am doin this for everyone.. i just wish i had someother magazine to read.. mostly about nissans.. i know you have Honda Tuning.. and it makes sense.. most of the import sceen is centered around hondas.. well.. the Nissan community is just as strong and growing stronger... Sport Compact Car magazine.. well.. they have a LOT about nissans in there.. but i would LOVE a mag dedicated to Nissans.. if you give me an Email address of people whom would love to buy this magazine.. i can link it to one of the forums that im in.. and can promise you that at least 100 people in the forum would agree.. We NEED a Nissan magazine that we can buy at the stands, and NOT have to get online to read.. Some good reading material in the bathroom sorta speak.. (sorry attempt to poor sick humor).. anyways.. please email me and let me know you at least got this email.. and that you will try your best to satisfy a LARGE community of Nissan Enthusiests.. Travis Burrell of Akron, Ohio

I'm not sure what would come of this. It would be interesting to see. We really would like to go to print at some point.

However, if you guys are really interested in this, I would suggest you all email them.

And thanks for the support!

Awesome, I'm glad you guys appreciate all the work and time that goes into the mag. Like Ryan says, we hope to one day get it in print. Even if its black and white and stapled together by myself .

Sarah

hm. i can only think of bad coming from this, sorry to say....

1. Primidea will take NPM over if they do accept it. they will add a few more editors, if not replace them.

2. its really hard to come up with projects for that many people to be interested in, every month, and still fill a mag. if anything, it will stress the hell out of everyone to just reach the deadline.

3. Primedia doesnt have to accept it, but, they can now start their own research and development team, and start their own Nissan mag, now knowing there is a demand for such an item. im sure they have many more contacts than imaginable in the automotive world, so this really wouldnt be a problem.

4.lots, and lots, of new people on the forums(which isnt really bad, but the amout will most likely be overwhelming to the current moderators). also, many, many people not using the search button .

the good side....

1. NPM and NF.com will be sponsored, and the writers and maybe even the mods will recieve income. no more worrying about not enough contributor accounts to pay for site hosting .

2.if there is enough interest in the physical mag, and it sells, Primedia could(big could) help with payment of new projects/car buildups. but doing this kinda makes it their property, etc etc etc.

3. WOOO HOO, i finally get to read about nissan 24/7

4. parts makers will finally start making more availible upgrades to a demanding crowd, much better than going "ok starting a GB on cf (insert part here), but we need 50 people to sign up and prepay........".

these are my $0.16 cents, take them as you will, but nomatter what, it will be a step forward to the community.

I support it 100% also...in fact, I had a little chat with Mike (before he actually re-designed npm from the sentra.net mag style) about publishing it. Thats the way he would like to see it go too.....slowly but surely I think it will get there. I remember a first step...nissanperformancemag.com was featured in a print magazine. One small step for npm, one huge step for nissan performance, I hope.

i remember when the cover was a little different and i commented to mike about it.. (hes gonna say he didnt.. or didnt realize it lol) but it was about how i could help him design a cool lookin cover. and i sent him a sample.. funny.. now they all have part of this template that i showed him.. then again.. i could just be assuming this and lying outta my ass..

Sara.. good to hear from ya on this.. now all i need is a comment from mike.. and then my goal will be achived on this thread lol.. what ever you people need to get this goin (before they steal it) which i really hope wont happen from me sending that letter, and future letters to come.. all i want is to help reconize the staff at NPM for thier hard work.. and all i want is my frist print copy free lol.. i will frame it.. maybe they would even say "thanks to yada yada and Travis for getting this goin yada yada" lol.
The next one i send.. i will make SURE that I include you all.. and that ill make my point known to have NPM's staff head up this whole thing.. by the way, is NPM copywriten? that might help hold up in court? All-in-all.. i hope that no one is upset with me throwing something at Primedia only because i wanted to do something productive for you people. (NPM staff) and hope it will help.. ALSO.. PLEASE TELL US IN THE FORUMS WHAT OR WHO WE NEED TO CONTACT TO GET A THING GOIN WITH ALL OUR NAMES ON IT! kinda like a patition(sp)? something that if we all sign it, would show all the people interested in this.. and then i could send a link to everyone to go to for it.. ok.. im done typing..
Travis

It's a good idea, I'de like to see NPM on the shelves. Why don't you make a small magazine and just copy pages on the scanner or something, get about 50 magazines together each month or something, get people to subscribe and send them out each month and slowly build up subscribers. Staple it together! I don't know im just talking out of my ass to be honest, but its an idea.
