I must say that I am very dissapointed with the "ricer" acrticle this month. Maybe I am alone in my feelings, but I think its very unprofessional. I think the article itself was written well but the content seems to be aimed at bashing less fortunate and less dedicated enthusiasts which I feel is inappropriate. What are your thoughts on it? For those of you who are involved with NPM, why did you feel it to be appropriate and worthy of such publication?
Im looking for constructive thoughts here as I honestly hope NPM to succeed.
I think what bugs me more than anything is one article brings a handful of you here to write your negative feelings over something that was meant to be humorous,....
yet when you read something that helps you or you enjoyed reading, why no postive feedback to the writer?
Example...Justin Culmo ( NF member name: 1997 GA16DE) wrote a great full conversion article on the B14, yet not one comment, this could be said for about 80% of the articles... go back and look through these threads and see what I mean.
Feedback is welcome and great... But please try to use the same enthusiasm when you like something.
I'm done with this topic.

I make fun of ricers a lot. When you buy an 87 accord and cut the springs and put the big APC electric remote adjust fin on it and a loud exhaust. It's ricy. People who do that to a new car really have no excuse. I guess if they want to do that, let them. I also make fun of cars painted bright LEGO colors or have tires that stick out too far from the bodies and are on the wrong size rim.
the rice comes from a show car culture that many people here don't understand and imitate and twist in their own unique ways.
It would be cool if more people got into real motorsports and didn't just want to hang out in parkinglots and bump their stereos, but that is what is more accessable to the public. it's hard to sell kids on not being able to stay out saturday night, because there's an auto-x and you have to get up at 6am, etc...
I think the loud mufflers and blue headlights make give asian cars a bad rap. I think that the article was humorous.
I gotta say.....I liked the article for it's "uniqueness"(if that's a word). All we see nowadays is I did this, I did that. Here's how to do this, here's how to do that. I really like having something with a little more THOUGHT put into it. ANYONE can write an article about HOW-TO do something. I takes a little more "umph" to write a commentary or an opinion type of article.
Question....do any of you read anything other than the front page of the newspaper or sports pages? AND if you read something you don't like in a newspaper, do you write in a bitch at the Managing Editor.
It's a great piece of JOURNALISM....that's all. It's not the spoken word. It's not something you have to agree with. It's just one persons commentary. DEAL WITH IT.
AND another thing......Mike and his staff BUST THEIR ASS every F'n month for you guys to have something FREE.......that's right......FREE...to read every month. If you guys don't like what they have to say.....DON'T READ IT.
He's putting a magazine out for you guys....AND working another full job. Give em a break!
I thought it was a really good article with constructive criticism. I never read anything in the whole thing bashing ricers, just maybe making people that may not know any better to think twice before gluing more stuff to their car.
i personally saw nothing wrong with the article. it's humerous....that was the point but also it had a hidden meaning...DONT BE A RICER! i find nothing wrong with all show no go, all go no show, or anything in between. i find a problem with people trying to cheap into the hobby and call themselves an enthusiast. like taking a car and putting the 1996 15" tristars, aluminum wing, apc out the ass, and a fart can. if you cant afford it then dont get into it...or if you cant save and bust your ass to get what you want then dont get into it. i had to save and save and save to buy my car and everything on it. yes i made some mistakes along the way but it never was one of those ghetto ass cars i see all day. i wonder if my pepsi truck would run more more boost if i put an apc decal across the windshield?
