true, but most of the VVL owners are on sr20deforum. Maybe we should take a poll?

I'm on this forum. I don't post a whole lot, but I try and visit whenever possible. If you guys have VVL related questions just send me a PM and I'll respond quicker than if you were to post something. If I can't answer the questions I'll try and pass the question along to someone who can answer it!

Question Forced induction on SR20VE w/ CVT

Hi dude,

I'm a newby who has been building up the nerve to do some mods on my wheels. Its a 1998 Nissan Bluebird 2.0 SSS-Z HyperCVTM6. The engine's a SR20VE (VVLT). It took a while to get used to the high revs of the CVT at takeoff (definitely not a drag racer but will pull power down the stretch). You can hear the revs kick up when peeling out but since CVT takes a couple of seconds to auto-adjust itself by changing the belt ratio & dropping the revs you get the feeling that you're not making the most of the engine's power & low end torque.

I was wondering if anyone has tried to drop a turbo/forced induction kit onto it. It seems to me that the most it would accomplish is to cause you to redline faster but not necessarily change your takeoff rate. By that line of argument, unless you can change the rate at which the CVT auto-adjusts, then I may be wasting my time/money. What do you think ?
