NNNNOOOOOO!!!!
That is what I said when they announced this on the Global site on Nov. 11
They can't move because that was one of the reasons why I was moving back out to LA. Personally, I think that this will hurt their sales in the car capital of North America because they will not have the same "presence" as they do with an LA metro HQ. Think about it, which can you picture a Z (Nissan's signature car) in better, cruising down PCH with the sun shining and a sea breeze or on I-40 with the heater on and dirty road grime coating the sides. Of course I still picture GI Joe rolling up to Barbies in the Z32 so that could be anywhere...
I think CEO Carlos Ghosn has done a terrific job with the turn around and the sustained progress in the three-year business plan, "Nissan Value-Up", so I guess he is doing what he thinks is the direction for the strategic growth for NNA, Inc.. Also, I'm sure that Tennessee is giving them huge tax advantages to relocate.
I really don't like Nashville but thank goodness most of the big Nissan tuners are still out in So Cal.

I don't think the change in location will do anything to sells.... who cares where the corporate headquarters are when buying a car?
I concede that the dealer system has a larger influence nationally on the community. However, when the company has the presence as I stated people think about that because they contribute to the community not only in jobs, but in education, events, charity donations and so on. The regular buyer does think about that kind of thing because it gives them a good feeling about buying the product. It is as though they are supporting these activities directly. So I think it will have an effect locally however small it is.

I bet 95 outta of 100 people couldn't have told you where the headquarters where before the announcment
I think the "regular" buyer (whatever that is ) Thinks about getting a quality product at a good price.. they couldn't careless about the other stuff..

Make that 96. I had no idea either.
A personal dream of mine is to see the end of the middleman dealerships, with everything about service and sales being done by the company itself, as it should be. I think we'd instantly see improvements in sales, service, and the treatment of buyers in general. Be awesome if Nissan led the way with that. But I doubt that'll happen anytime soon.

I would have to agree with that..........What influence did they have in LA anyway? 'm just curious because I live close to Nashville. Did they ever hold any nissan functions at the hq or was it just a place for the big wigs to work at?

Sorry guys, but you're missing the point. The corporate location has NOTHING to do with consumers' purchase decisions. The implications of the move, however, involve corporate identity preservation or loss and talent preservation or loss.
A large portion of current NNA employees will not be making the move to TN. It's yet to be seen whether this will have longterm, tangeable effects on the way the company runs and the effects on the "idea pool" the comes along with massive talent loss. (Plus there are secondary, indirect effects that come with your best talent potentially going to other key competitors.)
If a good core is preserved and the right local talent is acquired, the move may not be a detrimental one. The jury is out, and it will be sometime before you see an effect on sales (for better or worse), if at all.

Very true...I personally know one that isn't going...and it will be a big loss to Nissan both in knowledge and reputation....
