little help?

hi...

ima 16yr old that just got into cars and when i look stuff up about models or cars or engines, i have no idea whats going on or what people are talking about...

"The engine is 2.6 liter, dual overhead cam, 24 valve, twin turbo charged, and
intercooled producing 276 hp @ 6800rpm, capable of handling over 600 hp without
internal modifications.

The ATTESA E-TS system an electronically controlled all wheel drive system.
When the computer senses a loss of traction it automatically sends up to 50 %
of the torque to the front wheels. Under normal conditions the car remains
rear wheel drive.

The R33 and R34 are available with ATTESA E-TS Pro. The Pro system includes a
more aggressively controlled torque splitting computer and an electronically
controlled limited slip differential in the rear end."

this was what i was actually reading, its about the three skyline gtr models produced (r32. r33 and r34)

please can someone tell me what this is talking about?
like seriously i dont have a clue about cars so im not even sure what the terms like rpm and torque and so forth mean...
please someone give us a shout~

thanks

jae

dude, if you don't know basic stuff like this then you are really not trying hard enough! Instead than asking people about it do some research...its not that hard! Try howstuffworks.com for starters....

Well, if you didn't understand any of that, here's the rundown.
- 2.6 Liter is the combined displacement (space) in the cylinders. It's general size of the engine

- Dual overhead cam (DOHC) refers to the position and quantity of the camshafts which is responsible for timing the motor. It's the brain of the valvetrain. All japanese cars are overhead cam for the most part. Most american cars (besides newer 4-cyl.s) are overhead valve where the cam is located below the head.

- Twin turbos = two compressors driven by exhaust gas to foce air into the motor for vast increases in Horsepower.

- Intercoolers are like radiators for air. They cool down the air coming into a motor. Cool air has a higher density than warm air so when it reaches the cylinder there's more of it there to burn resulting in horsepower gains.

- 24 valve- too complicated to explain here.

- 276 hp @ 6000 means that when they dynoed the car, it had a horsepower rating of 276 ( a function of torque) at 6000 RPM

The suspension stuff is too complicated for you right now. DCD was right--Howstuffworks.com has a really good intro to cars. You can read it for hours. You remind me of me like two years ago. Now i'm ripping apart my own project car. Just study up!
Hope this helped.

P.s.- you just read a description of an RB26DETT, one of the most awe-inspiring motors Nissan has placed on this earth. Cherish it and remeber it always.
