is my monster rpm clock compatible with my rb20det

i am re-wiring my car with the rb20det engine. i hired an electricion do the job. He says that my auto meter rpm gauge will not work. He says the signal from the ecu is too low so the readings will not be accurate.

is it really not able to work?????

the gauge is normally hooked up straight to the single coil. so is there any way it can be connected or boosted except from the computer?

i think autometer sell a conversion chip that can be installed to fix this problem - i think it allows you to connect the gauge to the RPM signal on the ECU

Hey Joel i had an Autometer tacho in my 33 (RB25) and i just wired it up to where it is behind the actual cluster, so id say its wired into the ECU yeah? Mine worked a-ok!
But wouldnt the RB20 be the same?
Or is something different in the states to here in oz?
