Unhappy Hello...Help....!!!

My 1989 nissan sentra had a new distributor rod installed by
mechanic, then car wouldn't idle at stops, took car back to
mechanic, he said it needed a new manifold gasket, 8 days
later he is telling me my car is pouring black smoke. What
could he have done to my car. It wasn't smoking when I
took it in.. Any advice on how to deal with this person.
I knew I should never have let anyone work on it but me...
