Hello all.
Not only am I new to NissanForums.com, I'm also a Nissan owner for the first time. I purchased a 2001 Pathfinder SE 4X4 about 3 weeks ago. It has 32,000 miles on it and the interior and engine compartments are clean enough to eat off of. My problem is the (I was gonna say poor, but some people like it this way) very soft and mushy feel of the suspension. I already let go of about $600.00 by putting Monroe Sensa-Trak shocks and struts on it. My mechanic tells me that he couldn't find anyone who makes aftermarket springs for this truck and he did warn me there is no guarantee that replacing the shocks and struts would make a big difference. It did make a slight difference and the car does handle highway ramps well without a lot of noticable body roll but I am used to the feel of my old V8 Grand Cherokee. That thing handled on a dime (with the same type of Sensa-Trak shocks). I was wondering if anybody knew of any tricks to harden up the ride on my Pathfinder a little bit.
Thanks for reading such a long posting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hello...
Basically your 2001 Pathfinder 3.5 literv6 has even more power than your previous Grand Cherokee v8.The Pathfinders have a uni-body construction which gives them great handling abilities.Your "mushy" ride could be caused by sub-standard tires...I would look into replacing the tires.Mine handles curves around 80mph.
Thanks.
You can get aftermarket springs on 4x4 parts, and also from Old Man Emu that are a bit stiffer, and give the pathy a bit more of the "truck" feel. I got the coils from 4x4 parts to lift my truck (2"), and noticed some difference. I believe OME has a couple different types you can choose from...
