95 240sx overheating

I have a 95 Nissan 240sx that has been over heating..I replaced the thermostat radiator and the water pump...All looked like they were ready..I'm having one hell of a time getting all the air to purge from the cooling system..Is their a trick to these motors or a freaky problem with them that causes the over heating..It's a 2.4 liter..I have used the air bleeder at the top radiator hose and I'm still having problems getting the air lock out...What happens is the car will run fine and stay at normal temp then the gauge just rockets to the top and that tells me air is still in the block..Ok,guys whats the trick here..Is there something else going on????...I need your help...

Thanks,

Bruce from NC...

I like to slightly raise the front of the vehicle after draining the cooling system by jacking the front up a little. When refilling the cooling system, slowly fill it with the air bleed screw out until it starts to come out of the hole then reinstall the plug, continue to refill the system until it comes out of the radiator neck. Then fill the reservoir to the lower mark. Leave the radiator cap off and run the engine until the thermostat opens and coolant starts to flow thru the radiator. Rev the engine a couple of times while it is stationary and then turn it off and let it cool down. Top off the radiator and squeeze the upper radiator hose slowly to expel any air, then top it off again and install the radiator cap. Start it and check for leaks after it reaches normal operating temperature.
This should be it if it still is overheating then further evaluation like a compression test and cylinder leakdown may be in order.
