Just bought a 2002 Spec V.....

Hey there everyone. I'm new to these boards but by no means new to cars. I was looking to buy a car for about that last year or so and recently, an interesting offer arrose and I ended up with a 2002 Spec V. I was never planning on getting a Spec V. I was actually going to buy a 1988 Toyota Alltrac or a 1989-1990 240SX and then drop in an SR20DET but that didn't happen. My dad didn't want to see me with such an old car so he offered to give me my college graduation present a little early and pitch in to buy me a newer, more reliable car.

This isn't really what I wanted to do. Total, I had about $14,000 to spend with the additional money from my Dad and if I could do anything with that, I think I would have bought a 1988 Alltrac and swapped in an ST205!! However, my Dad would never allow something like this because he would think that it's not reliable because it's so old, etc. etc. etc. Anyway, I went to this dealer that my dad knows really well but who works for Larry Rosche and they sell mostly domestic cars. They really don't know much about the import scene. Anyway, they had a 2002 Spec V with 26,000 miles on the lot and it looked clean as hell. I test drove it and it was pretty decent considering my Dad wanted me to get a Civic because it was good on gas!! The Spec V seemed like a good compromise from what I wanted and what my Dad wanted me to get so we bought it and got a pretty good deal of $11,750 (Dad knew the dealer).

The problem is that I have always looked into every car but this all kind of happened at once so I didn't really have time to research it all and now I'm having second thoughts. Now that I read this board, I'm scared that I got a car that is just going to give me endless troubles for the rest of my days and I would like this car to last me for at least another four years. Can someone ease my mind and tell me that the car has it's problems but it's a good car all in all or something like that. If you can't, can you tell me what steps I should take to make this car last as long as possible. I'm bringing it to the dealer sometime this month and having them fix all the recalls and tune it up etc. Anyway, any advice or calming words would be appreciated because right now, I can't even sleep!

Thanks in advance.

Tony

First off, Id like to welcome you here!

As for the Spec V. I dont really know a lot about them. But if you look through the different Sentra sections you will find a lot of info. Also there are other forums like this that deal with B15s. Try The V Board and B15 Sentra, to name a few, to find some more info on your car. Good Luck.

dont worry about the problems some have with 02 specs... call a local dealer, make sure it has had all the nescessary recalls, and drive it... ive had mine for a little over a year now with not one problem at all... you will find some people who have all sorts of problems, and some who have none... just enjoy the car man...
