Just got me a brand spanking used 300ZX and would like to hang out with ya'll here. I am sure I will soon need your help with my Z. It's 1985, 200,000 miles. I bought it from eBay, haven't seen the thang yet, so I can't tell whether I should get in it or sending it to Salvation Army.
In case you wonder why... A looooong time ago, I moved to Oklahoma city along with my two friends after graduating from college. They both owned their own 300ZX, brand new from the dealer showroom. Both are red. And just the other day, I passed one of the red Z on my way to work and turned out it was my friend in it. I was amazed that anyone would keep the car that long, it has to be fairly good.
I had been shopping around for a Delorean, then couldn't make up my mind when I saw the Porsche 928, then the 911, the the Fiero :-( ????, then the newer body style 300Z, then the BMW, then then Jaguar, then the Delorean, then the Porsches, then the Fiero, then the Lamboghini kits, then the Ferrari 308, then the 308 replica, then the Porsche... Anyway, you got the idea.
28 days later, realizing my own dilemma, I decided to look for an older Z. And there it was, a hot red 300ZX on eBay, $920 starting bid. Exactly the same as my friends. Oh sh*t! That can't be happening. I hated those red Z, because both of my friends have it. But then, the car owner sounds pretty confident about it, she is the original owner, done all those maintenance works, and even praised about those sunny days cruising around with the T-tops off. And so I couldn't resist anymore. $1009.
So. I am here armed with questions about how to maintain and diagnose the car... But... I'll just hold the questions back until I get to sit in that driver seat.
