sr20de swap into a 200sx se 5spd

I want to do the sr20de swap, will it require alot of work, like wire harness and ecu swap, and mounts?

By the time you spend all the time and money, you could have bought an SE-R already.

Ya knowalot of peeps around here say that... but I wonder how many of them ever might have thought the peeps wanting to do this swap in their SE may have shit done to their current 200 already and maybe know that their car is dependable and don't want to take a risk of getting an se-r that's going to give them problems or anything like that. Maybe they don't want anymore debt... and besides I've heard a couple people say they've gotten the swap done at a regular mechanic shop for less than 2k motor and installation. I think there's alot of bs on these boards. I may not know everything about the swap, but I don't see what could be so difficult. They're the same car... same everything but motor and tranny. If you have a wrecked SE-R cap then I don't see what problems you could come across that's going to cost so much time or money.

The reason people get told this so much is because they are ignorant and 90% of the time don't know what they are getting into (this is not directed towards the author of the thread). This question has also been asked 10,000 times before and the author could have easier searched for the info. Stay on the boards a couple of months and you will cringe every time you see this question along w/ other redundant topics such as 'can I swap in a sr20det' and 'what exhaust should I get.' Additionally, you are showing your ignorance by believing the swap is easy and straight forward. If you have any experience working on cars then you should know this - nothing is as easy as it seems. I don't care what car it is and how similar they are, swapping engines is difficult - period. It is extremely annoying how many people think all the have to do is undo some bolts and lower the new engine in.

If you want a challenge and don't mind the hassle, go ahead, it's your car. However, unless you know what you are doing or you have a competent friend I would stay away.

You will need the entire front clip from an SE-R. You need all the accessories as well. You need the alternator, power steering pump, axles, radiator, and so on. I've listed this shit out for dozens of other members you will find the info if u do a search.

If you want an idea of what's needed, look inside your engine bay and imagine EVERYTHING being removed except for the washer fluid resovoir, the battery, and the master cylinder b/c that's about all you'll be saving.

what about the power steering reservoir? on a side note i saw a 98 2--sx from across the street from work, at a used car place and finally went over when i realized it had the ser skirts on it.
the salesman said it had an sr5 in it and later said he used to work at a nissan dealership. i got a kick out of that, but never said anything. price seemed pretty high, (i dont remember what it was) but it only had 63K miles on it....and that lovely black interior i want.
then again....i've put alot of time into the sentra and things i payed good money for, like my tails, wouldn't swap over so trading it ins just out of the question.
i wanted to take that sucker for a drive fo sho' but the dealer knew i had no intentions of buyin or trading in mine for it.
