Unhappy cheap short shifter

this is my first post and i wanna just say wuts up to everyone. i wanna get a cheap short shifter for my '96 200sx but i dont know home much i should really spend. should i just go pick up a $40 shifter off the shelf somewhere or should i really put some research into it and get me something with a name.

im also wondering how long a cheap shifter will last me before it snaps, because i dont think i'll be racing my car that often and putting stress on it

I know it sounds lame but hit up Ebay. You can usually find short shifters there, then you can just research them before you buy.

I had that question in mind too...people say the cheap short shifters can take ur tranny out of alignment or something like that and fuck it all up if they arent done right, and they say to do research and spend more money to get a good one...is this true or will the 60$ once perform just as well?

wha? a pacesetter short shifter? huh? and here I am trying to save money for a nice quality B&M.... mines for a 89 240 though. Any thoughts? I've heard from many people that the obx, and pace stutter stuff suck and to stay away from it. I know waaaayyy back in the day, I had an OBx for my 92 integra, and that thing grinded every gear. I thought it was the tranny, but when I put the stock one back in, it was ok. I wasn' the only one either. Unless you can tell me/us why the pacesetter is ok, I won't spend the money on the B&M, and would very much appreciate it.

you def. dont want the cheap ones on ebay. i guess you read my post about mine snapping at the weld huh? i have a pacesetter now i got from nopi for $75 shipped iirc and i love it. shifts are alot shorter and the shifter doesnt wobble around and rotate some like the cheaper one did.
