98 sentra speedometer and gas indicator not working!

I was going to replace my guage face plate with some after market ones. I took out the gauge cluster and took a look at it. After giving it a second thought, I decided not to replace it. So I hooked up all of the wiring in the back and set it back it place. Now my speedometer and gas indicator doesn't work correctly. The speedometer kicks in at around 20 mph, but it always is 10-15 mph below the correct speed. And the gas indicator is good when it goes up, but it won't go down. I don't know if I'm low on fuel anymore until the light shows up. Does anyone know how to fix this?
