sr20det into b14 200sx

I am new to nissan and quite familiar with honda swaps.I will be dropping a blue bird engine into my 97 200sx.This motor bolts up to everything, right? What about turbo charge piping doe sit need to be rerouted for the usdm car or is it alright. Can i use the JDM fwd sr20det ECU?Do nissan motors have any type of variable vale lift (vtec)where it switched cam lobes? What about wiring differences between the JDM motor and harness and USDM?What about obd compliance i guess my nissan would be obd2 but I really don't know.Just a few answers to these questions please and a point in the right direction

what the? top my knowledge, late model bluebird engine are FWD, not sure about america. it would be better to use a RWD sr20det engine, im not even sure you could put a FWD sr20 into a rwd without major modification.

welcome to the boards .. i hope you read the "Read this First" Stickie.

your swap questions could be answered by a simple search , and a visit over to SR20DEforum .. there are alot of knowledgable people here so you can search now or wait for them to chime in.

about you VTEC question :: nissan has NEO VVL (nissan ecology orientated variable valve lift) , and the newer CVT (continuously variable timing)

the NEO engines are the "VE" engine , example :SR20VE , the technology is like a 3 stage VTEC , instead of 2 like in a Honda.

FYI , in America the 200sx is a Lucino/Sunny not a S chassis car (silvia)

Concerning swapping in a BB engine. The BB tranny is AWD so don't use it. However; the BB will directly fit into the sr20de FWD tranny but NOT the ga16. If you have a ga16, you will need to buy a sr20de tranny. Other than that, the BB engine is pretty much a direct swap (easy as far as engine swaps go). The BB ECU will not work, you need to use a JWT ECU. Addtionally, you will need to upgrade your clutch to handle the turbo.

The Nissan version of VTEC is the Neo VVL. You can also swap in a sr20ve in place of your sr20de.

Here is the deal. If you wanna put an SR20DET into a B14 sentra/200sx, then here are your options.

If you are putting the engine into an SE-R, the job will be 50 times easier. Engine in, engine out, mess with the ecu + others, done.
If you are putting this engine into a XE/SE, your are in for some trouble. You will need to get the engine, ecu, radiator, hoses, tranny, half shafts, and many other tiny parts from an SE-R.

Using the Bluebird SSS engine is fine. It's FWD, and comes with abour 215hp. The problem is that it is an ODBI ecu. The sentra needs ODBII, so you need to have the Sentra/200sx SE-R ecu + wiring harness madified. Other than that, you should be set.

The best option is to use the Pulsar GTi-R SR20DET. It's 4wd, comes with about 227hp (better turbo + under piston oil squirters). This engine uses ODBII, so you may only have to lengthen some of the wiring harness. This engine is the best bet for your swap, but a little more pricey + hard to find than the BlueBird engine.

Hope that clears up some of your questions.

Here is a link if you are putting the SR20DET into a GA16DE equipped B14
B14 GA16 to SR20DET

If you are putting the DET into an SE-R, then you can go here for some info.
