Question Transmission Compatability

Hello guys and ladies,

I'm new to this forums and have been reading some of the interesting topics especially SR20VE. I'm looking forward to hear your recommendation as I'm planning to do engine & transmission swap on my cefiro RB20E. The cefiro is rear wheel drive, is it possible bolting the SR20DE manual transmission to SR20VE engine? By the way, i've searched about transmission compatability but no success. Maybe it hasn't been discussed before.

Nissan 204hp Primera

The only car that I know of is Nissan Primera (japanese spec and information I've got says it has 204hp, front wheel drive and six speed gearbox). I thought nissan x-trail has SR25 engine as I'm driving it. I might be wrong with the 204hp but still it has more horsepower than SR20DE or RB20E. There is an engine laying at the junkyard and I better find out more about it before purchasing with SR20DE rear wheel transmission.

You have an RB20 right? Wouldn't it be easier just to purchase an RB20Det, as I'm thinking the fitment would be more compatible and so might be the tranny.

Unhappy Pros n Cons

Wish it was that simple. Where I am from, the law doesn't allow us to do swap with engine capacity of +/- 300cc from original engine capacity. Another issue, non turbo cars are not allow to fit or swap with turbo components. Even through illegal means, my home country is well known for sudden traffic road blocks conducted by the police with vehicle department and searching thoroughly for illegal cars. And also another point, RB20DET or RB25DET are damned expensive since the junkyard dealers never sale them as engine or gearbox alone. It has to be bought as front car half cut. Just say they do know how to make money. I had a discussion with a friend whose advised was to sale the car and get honda. I told him no since in the past, i used to have subaru wrx STi RA, Honda Integra and Rover Coupe. This time, I want to get a feel and taste of Nissan. But anyway, you recommendation are well appreciated.
