Exhaust woes..oops mistake

Ok, a friend has a 2000 sentra GXE 1.8. We had Magnaflow (14218??) can installed out back. Nice tone, too soft. Had (note this) 2 resonators cut out & straight pipe installed. Shop was saying TWO resonators....said cat was part of manifold. Later installed 22" glasspack where pipe was; tone/performance is good now. PROBLEM: won't pass texas inspection! Was told the cat was missing. Haven't tripped any codes and had no problems. Is the manifold cat a PRE type...and was the 1st "resonator" really a cat? Need help here.......and if we need to put a cat in, what's the best type? Thanks 4 your help!
