"Service Engine Soon," cannot pump gas

I have a 1998 Altima GLE with the "Service Engine Soon" light on. This happened last year too. When I try to pump gas, it only allows about $1.00 worth at a time. I have to wait for the gas to go down then pump another $1.00. The problem is with a charcoal cannister (?) possibly being blocked, creating a vacuum that won't let the gas flow into the tank properly. HELP!

Take it to the dealer. Thats not the first time this problem has happend.
