hmm...see, when the 'crystal taillamps' came out on skylines in the mid-'80s, they were nothing more than a tinted transparent cover over the red donuts, with the surrounding backing in black (sorta like a black altezza with a smoky lens, but flat as a board). thus, the taillights still shone red but were almost blackout when not lit. i think the prob with 'crystal tails' for cars that weren't designed for them is that the housing remains chromed, so even with red bulbs, the silver shows through and makes the whole thing look whitish. on silver hondas with chrome trim, those 'crystal tails' make it look even more cheesy...imho...
