hot plastic smell

Hi. I recently purchased a new 2003 Spec V and have a question.

The car has roughly 600 miles on it and I'm getting a strange "hot plastic" odor after even short drives. It's headed to the dealership to be checked out, but I was wondering if anyone here has experienced anything similar.

I haven't run over any plastic bags or anything like that, and my collant level is solid...no leaks anywhere.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

possibly some kind of sticker or tag that the manufacturer of a piece of your exhaust put on the car melting away... thats all I can think of if its that new... or maybe some wires are hitting you exhaust

I had a similar situation but in my 98 200sx There was plastic covering that was being burned by the exhaust manifold... just check around that area when the engine is cold...good luck hunting

i was thinking that maybe the sun would hit the dash and give it that sorta smell.. or maybe you have a floor mat cover still on the ground and the sun could hit that.. those could be some other ideas.. dumb ones. but hey.. anything could help.. Travis
