Waiting is gay

I think it's kinda dumb to make those who are experienced in forums such as these wait two days. Too bad there's not a dumb filter to just take out the people who would cause problems.

ANYWAY, I'm bored with my saturn and I want to start a new project thats RWD. FWD gets old really fast on a car that runs 12.5 in the 1/4. Not very streetable. SO, I want to buy a 240 that has no engine to start with. But since I can't make it to the classified section....does anyone here have one for sale?

I understand your frustration, and right now, as far as I know, there are no 240SX's for sale in our classifieds section. Your best bet is to check out your local pennysaver (or equivalent), or even an Auto Trader for local sellers. Are you looking for an S13 or S14?

I dunno, I like the later body style more. I'm still trying to figure out why a S13 with a red top is worth less than the black top. But from the looks of things, I'm thinkin I should get me a S14 SR20DET or a RB20DET to drop in. I'll see if I can get a 240 to lift the front end... I'm probably gonna need 400whp and one hell of a clutch.

S14a's are hard to find (97-98 angry-eyes) S14b's are also hard to find, but are a bit more common. If you wanted to, you could also get an RB26 under the hood as well. I'm not 150% sure on why the redtop has less value than the blacktop, but Blacktop SR's are a bit more common.

I think it has something to do with the fuel mapping in the ecu or something like that. I read that awhile back somewhere.

You are more than welcome to visit the Car Club sections as well. There are two of our members selling 240sx's. One is a 89. Feel free to swing buy the Dallas Nissan Enthusiasts section at the bottom and check out the "DNE For Sales". If you have a question for any of the buyers, send them a PM or email.

To answer the question about the S13 Sr20's, the Red top is an earlier engine (90-91) while the black top is newer (92-96). There is also a difference between the S13 motor and the S14 motor. The S13 motor uses a high port designed head while the S14 motor uses a low port design. Plus the S13 block is stronger.

Don't even consider the RB26DETT in the 240. Way too much money and WAY too much work. The RB25 drops in with some minor mods here and there. I'm still not sure about the RB20 though. You can pick up R33 GTSt clips for around 3k. RB20 clips are cheaper (no replacement for displacement. Remember that and live by it) but less cc's. As far as financially, the SR motor is a lot cheaper than a Skyline motor, but you can't beat an inline 6 turbo. Hope this info works out for ya'

And this no posting BS is just that, BS. Dammit

Well dems the rules. How are we to distinguish between the real newbies and the people that know stuff? Be glad it's only two days, I think sr20deforums has a 2 week period for newbies. We have been discussing the option of moving good content posts from here to the forums they would normally go in though.

Thanks for clearing that up. Are all 240's rear wheel drive? Or is there a year I need to watch out for? I would be really pissed if I ended up with another front wheel drive car.

As far as I know the JDM S13 SR20DET RT(red top) is from 91-93 the S13 SR20DET BT(balck top) is from the 94-98 and has a flat top valve cover they both use 370cc/min injectors and a t25 turbo .64 a/r ex house & .80 a/r compressor and High Port Head.

JDM S14 BT is from 94-98 Has a low port head that uses varible intake cam timing(VTC) a black valve cover that peaks at #3 cylinder and uses a t28 bb turbo with .64 a/r ex house & .6o a/r T04B compressor.

As far as the engines go I like the early high port RT & BT they respond better to mods, have tons of hop up parts, are cheaper to buy and build, and can run much larger cams with little modification(compared to the VTC heads). If keeping stock the later S14 & S15 engines make a little more torque and hp but who runs SR's stock?

As far as the RB25det and the RB26dett they are dimensionally the same to mount you just have to use the 2wd tranny, come up with more room for the intake manifold and twin turbos or run a single turbo conversion(most do) it is more a price factor than a mounting factor I bought a complete rb26 from Ausralia with a spun rod bearing and it was still $4000.00USD+shipping I am still trying to find a good used(cheap) crank if you know of any out there?
As far as my rides I have a daily driver D21 truck with S14 SR20det swap and a 1320 180sx that had a RT in it but is getting the RB transplated as I speak it needs more cubic dollars!!!! Have fun with the drift project!
BTW the wait period sucks
