Newbee To the Nissan Seen!

Hey Guy's
I just picked up a 1996 Sentra that is relatively nice shape but has a bit of noise coming from the timing chain area. I have done a bit of homework and it appears that there are followers that are susceptible to wear and I'm hoping that this is the case? There is also some oil leaking from the top of the engine, in fact it's soaked! It looks like the valve cover and the spark plugs are leaking to. I will be needing a good manual because I do all my own mechanical work. Lastly guy's I would like to get the best mileage that I can if there are any tips to doing so or anything that I need to check I would appreciate it if you let me know. The car is an Auto almost forgot!

Thanks
