1994 Nissan Bluebird SSS (manual )..Big problem i need urgent help!!! " PLEASE '

HI EVERYONE!! well first off i only been driving the car for a month when my car started playing up i was gearing down from third to 2nd and the engine just shut off...

along with the engine all the electrics shut down for a brief moment and came back on... but the first thing i noticed as soon as the engine shut down...all the warning lights came on ... example " check ur oil " "check ur battery " check your engine " ..

i popped up the bonnet and realised there was no smoke but alot of heat was coming from the engine...so i allowed it to cool down for a good 40 mins ..went to start up but it wudnt kick in.. it sounded like the electric starter motor wasnt struggling to start but for sum unknown reason the rest of the engine n dat wudnt kick in...

so i decided to push it a bit further up the road near the shops so i cud kick back and wait for it to kool down b4 attempting again to start it up... but as i was pushing it a man came out of his drive way and asked me if i needed help and what was rong?..i briefly explained mah case and he told me he's been a roadside mechanic for the past 7 years and the main problem with my car is the distrubutor...(still unconfirmed lol but he was kool for helping)

wel after telling me this he took out one of those cable things that comes out of the distrubitor and put it on a screw that was on my engine and told me to start it up ... then bRoooom! the car started ..took it off and attatched it back to the distrubitor.

he then told me it would last for half an hour maybe more but enough time to get me home...he said he gave the distrubitor a lil spark or summin.. i dun fully understand it but he said all i needa do is pay for a distrubitor and i should be all good.

after getting home i realised the fan hadnt come on at all ...the engine was hot so it shud have come on by now ... so i replaced it the next day at a wrecker....it cost me 20 bux and was told a USED distrubitor would cost me $370.. went to an auto store called "repco " and they charged me 300 bux for a new one.. which is good ... i didnt buy it bekoz im not too convinced its the distrubitor..i dun really wana spend 300 on a part dat wont fix solve my problem...

its been 3 months since that day lol bkoz im out of work im even more of a scrooge wit dah limited amount of money i have so..

im quite sure this could happen to other cars so if any of u have any idea what the problem is... or if your absolutley sure that it is the distrubitor ...please hit me up ...
id like to know all the variables that could be causing this problem..

i believe there mite be something with the computer ... maybe the engine gets so hot that the computer shuts it down..

or maybe afta the fan failed to do its job in the cooling system ... it screwed the computer up a bit and the computer needs to be reset...

these are just ideas iv been thinkin about..i dont have a full understanding of the problem...but maybe You do ..well whoeva is reading dis..
the other thing i failed to mention is that ... i still take it for short drives everynow n den and it last about 15 minutes max b4 cutting out... and it still heas up very quick ... not to the point where it OVERHEATS but its still very very hot for a short 5 to 15 minute drive..

i been drivin mah girlfriends car in da meantime .... but im gettin sick of droppin her off at work lol im trying to fix the car myself ... that is why i am asking for your guys help !
