New guy from FL

Just joined a few minutes ago so i thought I'd drop in here and say hello. My name is Kevin and I live in Pensacola, FL. I own a powder coating business and I'm also a nurse. Married with LOTS of kids!! LOL! Up until 12/30/05 we owned a '98 Quest. Then some guy in a Dodge 4x4 decided to pull out in front of me......totaled! So we just picked up this 2006 Quest SE on Wednesday. We LOVE it!

Old wrecked Quest...

Pretty new one!

Hi Kevin, hope no one was hurt in that wreck!
Powdercoating = NICE!! If I owned that business it would be like a drunk running a bar.

I love the Pensacola area. Of all the areas of FL I've been to, I like Pensacola the best. The beach was fantastic. We went down there a few years ago on vacation (and to check out PCC for our son). Came home and started looking for a job down there (looking again, actually).

No, no one was in the van but me...Thank God! I was on my way to pick up my 5yr old from school. Thanks for asking!!

Did your son end up going to PCC? I love it here in Penscola. I've lived in several areas of Florida and this is by far my favorite! LOL....you are looking for work in Pcola again? What do you do?

And yeah you are pretty much right about the drunk owning a bar comparison! If I weren't so busy with other work right now I'd be coating everything of mine I could unbolt. In fact, we've only had the van 4 days now and I've already looked under the hood for stuff. Too bad it's almost all plastic.
Although the first thing I did do was make a color that matched the Galaxy Black to coat the rear tag frame in....LOL!!!
LOL!!

Hey Kevin,

No, my son never did end up attending PCC, although I wish he would have. They were not offering courses in his area of interest at that time, so he didn't want to go. PCC would have been a great school otherwise though.

Yep, I'm looking again...lol. Seems never-ending lately. We fled MI last year after I got laid-off from my job, and landed in a temporary position in IN. I'm a TOOL DESIGNER and just very recently started looking for something in the south, with Pcola being near the top of the list. I used to live in Ocala several years ago.

Can't blame you for looking for stuff right away on the Quest for powdercoating! No time like the present, before things start getting pitted with corrosion. Man, I've had SO many past projects that could have benefitted greatly from p-coating. No projects in my future until I get settled into a house again though.

Man let me tell you...when I bought the first Quest I almost had a stroke! I could NOT believe that I was actually giving someone my money for a van. But it was awesome...and now this new one...holy crap man...not only does it have more room than the '98, it rides WAY better and it hauls butt...that's not an exaggeration either..LOL...it really moves.! Check out a couple more pics...LOL..I can't believe how much I love this thing...LOL!

If you just have to get a van....this is sure the way to go as far as we are concerned. This one has the LATCH system for the car seats which is way better than the seatbelts and it also has side curtain airbags!!

And thanks for the welcome!!!!!

Man, that's a really clean interior layout! Only thing I wouldn't like about it is the speedometer right there in the middle for my wife to see.

What's the black rectangle next to the speedo that looks like it has some buttons on the other side of it? Is that some sort of nav/information center?

BTW: Nice looking house & subdivision! We were thinking about settling here in the Lafayette area, but their housing market is absolutely in the toilet. They've had like less than a 1.5% appreciation rate on real estate here. Last I saw, Lafayette was actually #263 out of 265 manor real estate markets polled in the country for appreciation values. Very strange, because Lafayette is really a pretty decent area. I can think of a whole lot of other places I'd rather NOT live.

Yeah that black area is the radio display, maint. schedule display, a/c controls display, sat radio display, temp, nav unit, and video monitor for the rear camera. Ours does not have the nav unit or camera....you had to get leather interior to have that package..we DONT do leather..LOL!!

Thanks for the compliments on the neighborhood. We just bought the house in November....we are loving it! Talk about appreciation!!! Real estate in the Pensacola area has gone through the roof since Hurricane Ivan. A pre-Ivan house that was say $150,000 is now reaching the $175-200,000 mark. It is FINALLY starting to level off though!! There were SO many homes lost here that the market just exploded...ya know...supply and demand!!

That's really gay how some manufacturers don't allow certain options without others... like the nav system without leather. What does one have to do with the other? They're totally unrelated.

So you have satellite radio with it? XM or Sirius? We just got XM last summer when my wife got her new Pontiac G6, which came with a 3 month trial. I listened to it for about an hour before I decided I needed one myself.
Now we've got 3 radios on the account. One radio is hooked up to our Bose wave radio and is on 24/7.

The gauges being in the center didn't really bother me for very long...It's kind of amazing how easy it was to get use to them being there. What took me FOREVER to get use to is the gear shift being there. Our old Quest had it on the column like normal cars....LOL!! On the '06 the windshield wiper controls are there. I have turned on the damn wipers a THOUSAND times trying to put the van in reverse!!!!

LOL! I know the feeling. I had one car (may have even been my old Pathy) I was afraid I would grab the wiper lever and snap it off!
