Going to eventually "pimp my ride"

I own a silver 1999 Nissan Sentra GXE LE with a five speed standard transmission. I really enjoy driving the car and I hope that I will add more power and pizaz instead of f@@king it up. Thats why I joined. Becasue I have no idea what I am doing as of yet and that means lots of research. Could anyone tell me where to start?
