D21 truck alternator

Hello All;
I was wondering if anyone could tell me the correct hook-up for the alternator in my Nissan 2wd 4 cyl. 1989 pickup...I took out the old one and had it tested-they claimed it was bad so I bought a new one but did not put it in right away and didn't label the wires...as I remembered the hot wire went on the (big) screw terminal, the plug is obvious, and there is one more round eye lead that is a black wire and is smaller...I think this was hooked to a small bolt in the back below a "E" on the casing...there is a black bolt with an "E" on the new one and am I correct in thinking this a ground wire? Before I put in this new alternator, it would not run after I disconnected the jumper cables...I have a brand new 750cca battery in it and now it will run with a jump but something is draining the battery...I recently had a cd player installed too....any help would be appreciated. Thank You

first welcome to NF !!! second UR IN THE WRONG PLACE !!! when u first come to the site scroll down till u find truck and suv and u should post there. and third, yes the black is ALWAYS THE GROUND ON ANY WIRING SYSTEM. As for the "E" thing i dont know what ur talking about cause i dont have that type of car nore have i delt with that type of alternator, but what i can tell u is that the power (RED WIRE) connects to the bolt that is goldish or copperish. Also who installed the stereo? if it was a dealer or for example bestbuy its mostlikely not the stereo. I would guess that since ur alternator was bad,it drained the batteries life away. So u will need to get the battery recharged and then that should take care it. if u get the battery charged and the draining of the bat still occurs then check all your lights and switches, make sure they are all off and that they all turn off when u turn the car off. after doing that and its all fine, i would suspect that maybe the stereo was installed improperly, so i would have it checked. hopefully this helps gl man.
