"Potential" 2000 Nissan Maxima GLE Owner
Hello New World,
I have to say out front and first, I am a long time Honda owner ('93 Honda Accord LX, 194,000 miles) who is contemplating delving into the new world of Nissan ownership.
I have to open and honest in that my knowledge of Nissan motors and their line of automobilies is very limited, so my questions may come across as vague and maybe a little uneducated. Hopefully, I can receive a tremendous amount of information and assistance as I contemplate the purchase of a Nissan.
The Nissan I am contemplating purchasing is a 2000 Nissan Maxima GLE. Just some very quick basics about the car. The car has 52,700 miles on it, it has had one owner, mostly highway miles (to the best of knowledge), no major repair work of any kind, asking price between $14,000 to $16,000 (sticker price at the time of purchase was $29,542, so pretty much loaded for the 2000 Maxima line).
The limited research I have done, has shown that the Nissan Maxima is a good car, with pretty good reliability and a reputation for durability. The current car, of which I indicated earlier, is a 1993 Honda Accord LX of which has approx. 194,000 miles on it and up until now, has had no major problems with it whatsoever other than the normal wear and tear and replacements.
The questions and reservation I have with the Nissan (Maxima)is:
1) Reliability - Excellent, Good, Average, Poor?
2) Durability (Life of Car) - Excellent, Good, Average, Poor?
3) Maintenance Costs - High, Average, Low
4) Price Being Asked - High, Reasonable, Low (Steal)
For now, I think I've taken up enough space here. Whatever responses I do receive, I want to thank each and every individual in advance for taking the time in reading this and helping out a inquisitive and somewhat nervous Honda owner who is thinking of leaving the nest of Honda Motors.
