Question Pennsylvania Mod Laws

Does anyone have any information regarding what the laws are in PA for modifying your vehicle? i'm sick and tired of getting pulled over by these F$@#&in cops. i would like to know information for things such as...

1. window tint
2. emmissions (soon to be?)
3. tail light/head light tint
4. ride height
5. windshield/window decals
6. headlight brightness (xenons?)
7. exhaust noise level
8. show lights (neons, strobes, black, interiors)

any information would be greatly appreciated. thx.

Those are good questions id like to know the answer to as well. I know you cant have colored bulbs for the headlights. I dont think there is a rule on how low the car is. If there is i couldnt tell. Emissions is just a testing. Your car has to pass the smog testing, if not you have to get whatever is polluting fixed. I know you cant have neons on while running your car. I forget the exact tint levels but i know your allowed limo in the back and maybe 20% is the front.

oh man....let me tell you just a part of the reasons why i want to know these laws so much... i was up in perry county a few months ago and this cop pulled me over for speeding, and then tacked on another $75 for having a fuckin windshield banner!! i was like wtf.... AND THEN... this other cop was stationed on the side of the road, standing outside his car, pulling people over in the traffic jam on the way to the CCCN (carlisle car show), and he cited me for having clear corners! NOW... i was pretty pissed off that day, but then a few months later yet ANOTHER cop in perry county pulled me over and issued me a warning for having a tinted license plate cover. so yea, i was glad to get off that time with no fine, but get this - while he was there i asked him if there was anything else he saw on my car that was illegal - and he said NO, mind you the clear corners AND the windshield banner were still there!!

They seem to be cracking down lately. I live in Allentown and its getting worse too.

As far as I know:

-you can have any windows behind the front seats tinted as dark as you want, NOTHING on the front windows or windshield

-those tinted license plate covers are illegal

-never heard anything about lowered car - if that is true, its f&#kin ridiculous

I have heard different things from different people but a lot of times it depends on what the cop feels like doing.. sad, isn't it??

i dont think i said that about the autobahn did i ? ohhh ok, i guess the people in living in areas with no speed limits are just better drivers than americans and therefore we have to have speed limits. hmmmmm...

we have limits to prevent dumbassed drivers, like i said before, from killing themselves/others. it has nothing to do with being better drivers or not. everyone in the world believes they are an above average driver.

...........i used the autobahn as an example to prevent you from saying other countries dont have limits........also, when your gonna quote someone, dont edit it so only part of it gets read, give the full thing

I have 20% all the way around on my car. I had 5% on the back and 35% on the front of my old car and never got harassed. I also had clear corners, which is perfectly legal. I used to cruise pass them with my system loud and they never came after me for disturbing the peace. My fiance says its b/c I'm a chick, so who knows!

I think cops need to know what their talking about before they pull us over and harass us, its ridiculous!

This may be a dumb question, but are using the correct color bulb with those clear corners?

in using the polarg visuals atm, they got like a mirror coating on em, and are white when in use.........ive seen a bunch of maximas n altimas around here with em too, among other cars.......they dont seem to have a problem...

thas another thing..when i lived down in florida, a cop would give you a disturbing the peace violation if they even suspected your trunk would rattle.......now that i live up here, i cant even get a cop to look at me

is it possible to get a noise violation from my system? been trying, nothing yet :-/

When I had my clear corners on my old car, I kept the orange bulbs, thats not illegal, but you cant have clear on clear. As far as your stereo system and getting pulled over, it really depends on the cop and whether or not he wants to be a dick.

I've had my car for almost a year now and I've been pulled over once but that was for speeding, oops! I think I got 4 points for that one, it sucks b/c now I have to watch where I speed and stuff. Although my fiance gets more attention when he drives my car. I never get any attention. Now that I have a decent car with some power, where the f*** is everyone? I got none stop attention in my old car. People Suck! I LOVE SPEED!

I have had the same problem. I used to go to school in Harrisburg and I got pulled over once a week. Middletown cops are the worst. I had a cop tell me my CATZ fog lights were illegal because they did not have the DOT identification on them. They don't have anything better to do. Its a big difference in Philly, the cops in Philly will tell you your car looks nice instead of writing you a ticket.
