Need Help, Sentra Died
Hi everyone. I'm new here but love Nissans...until now.. Lol.
Okay, I have a '90 Sentra with the 1.6 litre 12 valve engine. Got about 160k on it. I put new wires, plug, dist. cap, etc. with-in the last year. About a month ago,I noticed it missing (just every now and then), then the other day I was driving it and it just completely died. It has no spark at the plugs. I put on a new coil (figuring that was definitely the problem), but it didn't help. Now I'm thinking it's the distributor. Pulled it out and it looks fairly good, but there was one of the rubbers that's just inside the cap (has 2) one of them was chewed all to pieces inside the cap. Does these distributors have a "pick up " coil inside the distributor? I don't understand why I can't get spark from the coil with a new coil on it. I can pull the wire that goes from the coil and plugs into the distributor (the one that plugs into the cap with the other plug wires) and there is no spark at all when the engine spins over. I checked the 2 wires that go to the coil and they have fire in them (with the ignition key on). Can ANYONE help me fix my Hoopty, this is driving me insane!
