Question Diameter exaust system ga16de

Hi there,

I'm new here on this forum because i got a question.

Im driving a '93 N14 saloon automatic and i want to replace the catalyst for a pipe with the same diameter like the rest of the exaustsystem. But does anyone know what the diameter from the exaustsystem is?

I hope that you can help me..

regards

Dennis

why not make all the piping 2"...if your replacing the cat for performance reasons, your better off getting bigger piping now

2'' system would be very loud and probarbly very expensive i guess.
And because I travel very much with this car, I'd rather have a more quiet car.
Don't get me wrong, a engine should be heard, but my last car (n13 1.3) had a free system with no silencers and a big exaust... Great sound if you didnt have a long drive ahead.

But I do want some extra power and like a real Dutchmen I prefer not to spend to much on extra power.... I've got already planned this: Cold air intake, splitfire sparkplugs/plugleads, PBV. But if a 2'' system isn't to expensive I'll think about that...

a 2" crush bent will run you about $100, p,us the cost of the muffler...a 2" mandrel bent will be more, depending on it you buy a pre-made one, or get the bends on your own and have them welded up locally

it's not the 2" exhaust that makes it loud, it's the muffler and muffler tip that make the exhaust loud. You have to try a bit to make a car loud.

So when i only install a 2'' system with no sportsmufflertip, my car would be still fairly quiet? I think that making a system myself would be a lot of work tough ...

Wich manufactor makes/sells those systems?

Im not sure about your model but my 93 GA16DE has 2" for stock. You know if you had a measuring tape this would be a ton easier.
