626 exhaust question...

No spamming/flaming/BSing... please... this ain't a Mazda board, but WTF...

basically, my Sentra is in the shop, and while I'm waiting, this 2.0 626 is looking more and more tempting as a project car... so far, I've done slight CAI mods on the stock CAI intake, and the sound alone is worth the hours of cutting/gluing and cleaning... I've been looking at the exhaust and wondering...

Is it possible for me to just change out the header y-pipe for a slight flow increase, even with the stock muffler on? If ANYONE has had a 96 or 97 Mazda 626 and has done this, could you give me estimates of what kind of hp/tq I'm looking at?

I saw an article on the Honda CRV, and they showed the stock exhaust flowing freely enough for 200hp of boost... I'm wondering if the stock on this car is near that good...

thanks for the help, if anyone actually replies.

What's with this Azn Boi posting Mazda ish on Nissan Forums? juz kiddin..

My friend who has a white 626 A/T has done an effective Do-It-Yourself cold air intake mod with his ride...using my ideas of course..

And the headers would work probably good too...except that it wont be that efficient in cutting your exhaust noise and emmissions like before..

I already have a custom CAI... LOL... I've removed some of the panelling covering the stock box and fabricated a ram opening for it.

...I'm thinking about the headers because I'm bored and it would be pretty cheap (around 3500pesos ($63 ))... but it would be a headache looking for asbestos insulation... my engine bay is hot enough as it is.

my real wish is for some guy here to crash his 626 so I can buy his motor... he's got a modified ECU, Toyota 4 throttle intake (on the stock Mazda 2.0, mind you...), full IHE with a trick ram air, and full engine balancing, complete with forged rods and pistons... He's running 13's with a DAILY DRIVEN (none of that full weight reduction shit) NON-TURBO 4cylinder 626... wow.

Get headers from Nodalos, they give it each and are good quality ..and ask them to thermowrap them...

How about you make your Sentra run 13's to beat the shit outta that Mazda guy?

Don't spend too much on that Mazda...focus on your damn attention on your SR20 SENTRA!
