So if I'm out racing, how do I tell weather conditions?

Better question: Why do the weather conditions matter if you're out at the drag, autocross, or road race track?

Answer: Knowing weather conditions such as temperature, density altitude, and humidity can allow you to do everything from adjust your tire pressure to remap your ecu based on density altitude. Also knowing these conditions and datalogging info from previous runs in the same conditions can tell you how your car will react!

In other words, even for the weekend racer (which most of us are or aspire to be) it is extremely important to know what conditions are at your track!

At our recent trip to the Performance Racing Industry convention in December, we came across a booth representing Kestrel Weather Meters: Kestrel Weather Meters

They offer some pretty amazing little hand held units that vary from a basic unit offering such information as wind speed, maximum wind speed, and average wind speed, in either knots, miles per hour, feet per second, or meters per second, to the ultimate man-toy, the Kestrel 4000, giving precious information like density altitude, relative humidity, wet bulb, temperature (to within a tenth of a mile per hour!) and more, with the ability to STORE the invormation and even DATALOG IT!

Seen below is the Kestrel 4000 unit, with tripod (any standard camera tripod can be used!), and data case for transfer to your computer!

Stay tuned for an on-track review of the Kestrel weather meter for real-world use!

And don't forget, you can use this for more than just racing! Impress your friends, use it while hiking, or even just checking your home weather conditions.

Check out Kestrel's website for exact specs of each unit and how they can benefit you! Kestrel Wind Speed Meter & Weather Meters - Free Shipping
