i took a stick of aluminum angle and notched it so it would bend around the corners, and drilled holes through the bottom of the bumper and parts of the aluminum and bolted it up.
then i went back with the black poly stuff and drilled holes and riveted it to the aluminum.
i set the aluminum back a quarter of an inch from the front of the bumpers so the poly linear would mount up flush, and i cut it to contour the bottom of the bumper, yet be level on the ground side.
if it doesn't make since... just ask.
long story short... i think it looks better than the weather stripping, or lawn edging, i have seen screwed into the fron of the bumper.
it has been on there for about 6 months now without any problems.
i was at auto zone one day and saw a special tape made to do exactly that... make chrome trim black.
it is an 1.5 to 2 inches wide i believe and has a backing that you need to peel off. it is a lot like vynal for graphics. an hour with the tape and exacto knife, and that is what i got.
costs about 5 or 6 bucks and has been on the car for about a year now.
even up close it looks really good. just make a template so you don't cover the same area more than once so it butts together, and doesn't overlap.
