2003 2.5S concern

i recently bought a 2003 2.5s with 17k miles on it from a dealer friend. love the car, but there is one thing that ive noticed.

the car shifts a lot better after the car is warmed up. when im running before up to temp, it feels like it shifts hard(automatic) in the first 2 gears. but as soon as it gets up to temp its smooth and you cant tell(other than rpm drop). so my question: is there a problem that needs attention? the car is still under fac warranty, so that might be a plus.

waiting for the engine to be up to temp is not a huge deal, its only 2-3 mintues of waiting.

i checked the tranny fluid-there is plenty. too much maybe?

im not really good with cars. dont know my ass from my elbow really, but any help is appreciated.

thank you.

It's normal. The fluid needs to warm up and thin out to allow for smoother shifting.

thank you for the reply.

just a few more things though...

if its normal, then i can assume no damage is being done if the car is driven before completely up to temperature?

what about too much tranny fluid? i checked the fluid cold, and it seemed like the fluid line was above the cold line.

would changing/flushing the fluid at 21k miles be a semi good idea? i think 30k is more the norm, but i cant see how it can hurt.

thanks again for any help. its apprecaited.
