Can't Remove the Plastic Manual Shifter

Hi - I have just purchased a momo gear shifter and want to put it in my car (2005 Altima SE 5sp) - however, I can't get the piece of crap original one off!! I have tried twisting and pulling...but to no avail. Does anyone have any advice?

PS - I called the dealer and they said that they usually have to break it in order to get it off...

Some people say they are glued, other say they just twisted it right off. Vice grips usually do the job.

haha, yup, keep pulling that mofo. it will eventually come off.
