I want the visor with the learning remote, although that wasn't part of the options originally on my Altima. Can I just order it as a spare part and install it myself? Local Service Dept says I can't order it, so maybe there is a trick like it's wired into the car thru the hinge? I just want a second opinion...

Your best bet would be to get it from a junk yard or Ebay. You'll have to run power to it (remember to add a fuse in the power lead).

Try using homelink as a search term.
