i have had a 2002 altima 2.5 s for about 2 years now , love the car.just recently i have been hearing a loud hum coming from the front end while driving....it gets louder as speed increase and is constent.it is a little louder as i turn in the right. i just got new tires 2 days ago and all my cv boots seem are not torn or leakingit happens at over 10 mph! also about every 400 miles i need to add 1/2 a quart of oil. there is now visable drip or puff of smoke......HELP!!!!!
If you have to add a quart every 400 miles and you are not smoking blue profusely out the tail pipe... you have GOT to be able to to find something leaking externally. Grab a floor jack, and start looking under the engine.
As for the loud hum... CV joints can fail in the boot without damaging the boot, but I'd go with the wheel bearing nissan3.5 called out.
