HAHAHA!Well I just bought a laptop from Best Buy today. It's an E-machines model M5105,with a 15.4" widescreen,256 mb(add another 256mb=512mb),2.4GHZ Intel Celeron Processor,40 GB HD,56k modem yeah I know modem su*k,and dvd/cd-rw drive. It was on sell for only friday and saturday,$1049.99-$250=$799.99 A/R.This laptop was so thin(maybe a little over an inch thick) and wide(wide screen for movie).
Sounds like a battery eater. But cool anyway. I just bought one, a few months ago. Seems like these things keep getting better and better, while getting smaller and smaller. I hope yours came with a 10/100 ethernet port. Mine's an Acer Travelmate 290XVi (or was it XCi...), with teh new Centrino technology. 14.1" screen, 20gb, DVD player, built-in wireless... but it was cheap. Just gotta hope what you buy is reliable and doesn't break down too often. and those widescreen notebooks seem a bit... odd for me.
56k doesnt suck... its just not obsolette (sp), the one thing that does suck is the celeron processor... that thing is trash.. give it a year or so, and your laptop will feel soooooo slow, even if you re-boot it
yea, i hate celeron...that's what i have on my comp
i did get to check out Frank's laptop and it looks nice!
love that wide screen.
now time to make a cardomain site Frank.
Well,I don't use it that much,so hopefully it'll last me for awhile. My bro has a Celeron 366mhz dual processor that his been using for a few yrs no problem or what so ever, and he like it better than the Genuine Intel, cause he said it run's hotter then the Celeron and he didn't turn his computer off at all .I don't know too much about computer like my bro so...
And thank for the thumb up Nam.
So when are you coming over and do my cardomain, lol!

Hmm... kinda sounds like cars...
Well my battery with full charged,it will last up to 3hrs and 10mins,so how long was your last then?
LOL!
setup a cardomain site is easy!!
just register at www.cardomain.com
and there's easy step by step instructions on how to get started
if u want, i can setup the cardomain site for u, just give me a username that u'd like
LOL!Well I know how to setup the account and all..but don't know how to post my pics, that's the problem and I'm just too lazy to read the instruction, that's all.
Yeah. I got a Celeron in my laptop as well. It seems a little slow, but I'm rebuilding a desktop system now. Gonna go AMD Athalon XP this time I think. I'm growing kinda fond of them. Intel is overpriced in my opinion.
Sorry guys, but I have to disagree here. That 2.4 Celerey is way more than capable for most anything he can throw at it right now. I have a P-III 1Ghz that will run circles around just about anything current today. I can play the latest games, the baddest software, rip dvd's, serve a network, and burn no problem. (don't believe in the force, ask me and I will demonstrate) The computer being slow after a year is not the processor, it is the systems slow fragmentation and all around windows degridation that causes that. Just do a fresh install of windows and all other software and it will be good as new again. Frank, you did good getting more memory. That is the #1 best thing you could have done for yourself. If you need ANY software just name it and it shall be yours!

Well,it's good to know that Celeron wasn't so bad like other have experient, and I don't use my computer that much anyway, except to post on the org and here, and burn a few cds that's it.Thanx for those offer on the software,if I ever need anything I sure know who to ask for. See you at the meet.
i dont think u'll have a problem with speed or running programs on ur laptop...it's just that, thru my experience, celeron seems to crash a lot more often than pentium or athlon but then again, it might not have been the processor's fault...i dont really know for sure tho
