Angry 94 V6 crank seal won't fit !!!!

I was trying to replace my crank oil seal (front) yesterday and the new seal would not fit. I know it is supposed to be snug, but the outer part of the seal just did not "feel" right as I was trying to get it started.

Since there were no parts stores open around here, I had to choice but to press on. (pun)!

Anyway, I tried to press the new seal in and of course it did not go in, but got buggered in the process.

The application listed on the parts box says it will fit Nissan V6 SOHC 84-94

The part is a Fel-Pro TCS 45635 Which happens to be a National #223420.

I measured the inside of the "race" and it measured 1.857"

The old seal measured 1.858" and the new seal measured 1.881"

Is that enough difference to make it not fit?

Headed to the parts store to check on another seal this morning. Please
let me know if you have any helpfull info.

BTW my date of manufacture is 2/94.

thanks
crystal

Yeah, I'd say that 23 thousands is to much for a press fit.

It took some research, but the mystery is solved!!

Worker at the parts store put the wrong seal in the wrong box.

It was actually a camshaft seal. Got the right one. Put it in and went to finish the job.....

And of course the thermostat gasket is the wrong one!!!!!

Maybe tomorrow. LOL

thanks anyway folks.

crys.
