my 92 project

I have a 92hb,2wd,m/t, and the ka24e.first I have to say I love this truck. Unfortunately it spun a rod bearing about a week ago. So time to rebuild. I picked up a donor truck with working a/c and p/s...mine doesn’t have them and im in the process of rebuilding the motor. The block will prob. be .20 over, the head will be port matched and I will have a long tube header and full exh. This is my first Nissan build do any of you know of any tricks that will help me in the long run or to help me get more power?

What do you mean? Long run or power? Well Im not looking to go turbo or anything like that so I would say both.

I would suggest just doing a rebuild. Don't bother porting matching anything, especially the head, because the runners inside will still be the original diameter and you wont see a gain. What you will cause by port matching is a pocket where the intake manifold and head meet which causes turbulence in the airflow.

Do a good job rebuilding the motor. Check all your clearances!! If you want headers, intake, exhaust, etc. do that, but I would refrain from trying to port anything.

If you really want to increase the flow of the cylinder head and intake manifold while spending hundreds and gaining very little HP, send your head and intake manifold to a place where they do "Extrude Honing". It's very effective on turbo engines and will overall help your engine breathe...but you wont see a very large gain.

Hope this helps.
