86.5 manual to automatic transmission swap

Hello I have a 1986.5 4x4 HB with a V6 and a 5 speed manual transmission installed. I recently was involved in a motorcycle wreck and I'm now recovering from a severely broken left leg. I bought the truck to drive in the rain when I couldn't ride my bike but now I have to drive it full time and the clutch is painful to use, but I have a daily 60 mile commute in southern California traffic. I've gotten pretty good at syncro shifting ( shifting without using the clutch), but I need an automatic. I was wondering if anybody out there has any information regarding swapping out the manual trans for preferably a 4 speed automatic? will there be any major issues trying to get a RE4R01A into it. Also will my existing transfer case bolt up to a two wheel drive model trans? I know that I will have to change the trans computer, but what about the floor shifter, will the floor shifter out of a 1986.5 HB with auto trans work with a later model trans? any info on the automatic trans power selector switch would also be nice? I would sure appreciate any help thanks

very expensive and time consuming swap.

try nissan4wheelers.com

and nissanoffroad.net..

these guys are alot more familiar with the 4x4s and modifying them to suit a need..

that swap is just not easy ..
the 2wd and 4wd parts will not mix.

the 4 speed auto trans from the 2wd 4 cylinder is the same trans as the 6 cylinder..except for bellhousing.

for the same or less money u could just buy another nissan that is automatic..
