Ive been reading some things on the timing belts on the VG30E, how once it hits 168,000 km, u better get it changed or u will be in for problems, now my truck has 194,000 kms on it, but back at 93000 km, something went wrong with the engine, and they had to replace the engine, but i dont see a charge on the bill for a new timing belt, would u assume they used a new timing belt and not reused my old one that hadd 100000 km on it??? just looking for some opinions before i have to tear it appart... thanks
i looked closer on the reciept, it says:
1 10202-75pa1 engine bare
2 14035-v5000 gasket ex
2 14035-v5202 gasket int
1 25240-89920 oil sending unit
1 12303-12g7 vg30 pulley kit
1 99998-10282s block heater
I dont see a head gasket on the list, so does that mean it was a whole engine, so it had a new timing belt in the engine and just didnt rebuild the one in the truck??? thanks..
Yep, I'd get a new one in there ASAP. If it breaks, kiss the engine bye-bye usually.

There is no P/N: 10202-75PA1 in the Nissan parts directory. I believe the number should be: P/N: 10102-75PA1. This number is listed as a 32mm bare engine, but is service filed to use P/N: 1010B-75PA1RE, which is a remanufactured engine assy (aka "long block," which means it would have come with a new timing belt).
I believe #12303-12g7 to be P/N: 12303-12G27, which is a crank pulley kit.
So, it sounds like you get a long block assy. from valve cover through oil pan and they swapped over your original exhaust manifolds, intake manifold/plenum/injection rails and installed a new oil switch.
If you are not sure, then you should contact the place that did the work.
I have seen cases where the crank pulley bolt has backed out and the end of the crankshaft has broken, causing the valves to contact the pistons, on some VG30E engines; perhaps this is what had happened to yours and explains the need for the crank pulley. Once again, you need to ask the place that did the work.
