No Load Knock
My '93 4WD pickup with KA24E engine with about 170K has an engine knock right at the friction point when releasing the clutch (any gear but especially R, 1 and 2). As soon as the clutch is fully released the knock dissapears. It is quite noticeable when cold but almost goes away after heating up. The knock does not appear under any other circumstance (like heavy loading). A transmission mechanic put his stethascope to the bell housing and said the noise is not coming from there. He says it seems to be coming from inside the timing chain cover. I had a the timing chain and tensioner replaced recently. Prior to that the above symptom existed but now it is worse. Whaddya think?
