Angry Auto Trans Problems

I have a 95 HB XC V6 4X4, While driving the transmission will drop out of OD and there it's like there is no compression hold back to the tranny as the revs immediately will drop to idle if you let off the gas. Take tranny out of OD with the shifter switch and tranny works like normal. The tranny was recently rebuilt and I had a second transmission specialist check to make sure the work was done properly and it was. I was wondering if anyone has had the same issue before. The problem will go away if I pull over and turn the truck off and then turn it back on again. This isn't a regular thing and it happens sporadically. Could it be a problem with the electrics from the shifter switch?? I'm at a loss for figuring this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Several folks here have indicated that there is tempature switch that will cause this problem. Do a search for the posts.

True dat. Also, sometimes the transmission control unit (TCU) goes wonky and swapping in a junkyard part fixes the problem.

Thanks guys for the information. I appreciate it. If I can't get this fixed I may trade it in on another truck.

Question Still working on problem.

Thanks, for all the help from everyone here. I used the procedure for checking the TCU and found that it says that there could be an electrical short between the TCU and shift module 2 or the shift module could be bad. Not sure how to troubleshoot the electrical issue with the tranny.
