maf problems

hey everyone im new here,i just got my first hardbody a 1986 se v6 a/t extra cab 2wd. i got it from my paretns friends, theyve owned it since new.and recently it stopped running so they took it into their mechanic and he said the maf is bad but that is not all that is wrong,he knows that its bad because he took the maf off and put it on a good running hardbody and it wouldnt run,he put the good maf on this truck and this one still wouldnt run.so most likely this maf is bad along with someother problem.in his opinion its electrical/computer related, either the ecu or wiring connection.it will trun over but not fire, the mechanic said that it would start and run for like 20 seconds sputtering and not sounding happy, now it will not fire at all.i really would like to get this truck running asap soo any input as to what my problem could be or the best way to go about diagnosing it would be much appreciated.or if anyone has a maf or ecu for sale let me know.

thanks

robert

I thought hardbodies came out in 87? Anyways, if it's a Z24I engine, it may be the throttle body. I've had an issue where it was only receiving 2v when it should be getting 4.5v making it run sh*tty... if it could run at all. The mechanic took almost a week to have it run right. For some reason, there wasn't a fault code given, that's why it took so long for him to figure it out.
