HB electrical bug

For some reason my 93 HB is experincing some dash lighting problems.
When I go to turn the head lights on there is a delay for the dash lights to come on.

It dosent happen every time but its pretty frequent.
The head lights come on and about 3 to 6 sec later the dash lifghts come on and work fine without any cutting out.

Any ideas would be apperciated.
Thanks!

I've never seen a sympton like this before. But it seems like the it's taking the dash light some time to power up. It might be possible that the relay that powers up the HB is damaged. I'm not sure though if your HB dash lights uses a relay to power up. This is what I think!

Is it possible that your light switch is gummed up and not making good contact for the dash lights at first? You might also check the dash light rheostat.

It's the switch. Take it apart and clean the contacts. After you get the steering column cover off it should be fairly evident what to do.
