coolant in the intake manifold

so my 1986 nissan sentra starts billowing white smoke,Im thinking head gasket, long story short(because I have to head out the door in a sec) there is water in the intake manifold as in I look down the carburetor and can see coolant pooled up underneath it in the manifold,I separated the intake manifold from the head and dont see any apparent gasket leaking from the intake manifold to the head,
any help would be appreciated,

well thats what I thought at first but if there is enough coolant pooling a quarter of an inch in the intake manifold that would mean that the cylinder would have to fill up first or the intake behind the valve would have to fill up first then when you tried to start the motor the engine would hydro lock or suck the water behind the valve in and hydro lock...so at this point I think its a cracked intake manifold but how or why I don't know, I just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else or If they know of some other reason to why coolant is filling up my intake manifold.
I suspected a thermal vacuum switch that is attached to the intake manifold but there doesn't seem to be any coolant or moister in it or the vacuum lines coming from it.
